Technology at its Best

After the disaster at the first meeting with the web design company, Pam Sue's supervisor decided to offer her another chance. She insisted that Pam Sue signed up for some computer courses. Thus Pam Sue was enrolled in two computer courses, namely internet technologies and website design.

Pam Sue felt that she was now qualified to contribute to the project, maybe even join the website development team. With the knowledge and skills she had acquired, there were a lot of things she had planned to do. Systematically she worked out a list of tasks-to-do. First of all, something had to be done about the internet security for the website. The computer support department was very lax; the current level of internet security was shameful - anyone could easily log in from anywhere.This matter should be attended to immediately.

Secondly she wished to establish a social network in addition to the new website. The marketing team had discussed the importance of driving high traffic to their website; a social network would be the perfect answer. Since she was the one who came up with the idea, she could set up the social network and manage it as well.

Thirdly and most importantly, she must insist on a laptop. How else do they expect her to work then? There was a lot of research work to be done. She could not possibly lug her desktop with her every where. With a laptop, she could work in the train each morning and evening, at home or during the weekends when she had her lunch, high tea or coffee breaks during a shopping trip.

Pam Sue prepared a report with her proposed projects and required tools. She submitted it to her supervisor, Jenna, who sent copies of it to the computer support department and the marketing department. Needless to say, the computer department was flabbergasted with her comments about the internet security. The marketing department was amazed and incredulous, especially at Pam Sue's insistence on a laptop. The departments therefore decided to hold a meeting as soon as possible, to discuss the issues that Pam Sue had brought up. Well, it was a meeting everyone was looking forward to!
