Technology at its Best

Here it is my first year of college, and I am studying to be a programmer. I have known since I was 8 years old that I wanted to go into something to do with computers when I graduated from High School. After looking through about 20 colleges, I finally decided to go to one right here in my home town. Before my first day of class, I decided to visit a computer shop just to see what they did. I was so amazed when I got to see the inside of a computer, I was speechless. Had no idea that a computer had so many parts to it.

I was just full of questions and told him I was going to college to be a programmer. We had talked about things like needing software, a good connection, and how to make a web site just to start off to be a programmer. Now keep in mind a good connection could be cable or dsl, but a good connection is one that will always let you connect to the internet. Well I have dsl at home, and even with that, I sometimes have a hard time with the connection to the internet.

The computer tech decided to quiz me on a few words. I just rolled my eyes and said, “Okay go for it!” He started talking and said now if we are talking about the letters www, you have any idea what that means. I was thinking for a few minutes and said it means World Wide Web. I always type in the letters www for a web site. It is a lot shorter than having to type in World Wide Web on the address bar. Now this conversation was getting interesting.

No one had the answer to the one question I had. I always wanted to know why you never had to type in www when you were searching for something. I know when I start going to class, I will learn the answer, I hope. I was so excited to learn what a web site development was, what it meant when it said world wide web, and how to design a web site.

Well to cut this chapter short, as I guessed it, the first day of class we got to play around on the computer. We even learned what connection the college had for their internet service provider. For my first day of class, it was all very interesting, and am looking forward to going back tomorrow. That is when we are going to discuss about the web site development and what is involved in being a programmer.
