I knew very little about Web Design but wanted to start my own website.
I subscribed to a company that created the shell of the site and then you are able to edit the site as you like. My site has been up and running for a while now and I am constantly trying to promote it.
I joined a forum and posted some replies where they were relevant to my site and the forum moderator kept deleting my responses. I sent an Email asking whymy responses were constantly being deleted. I received an email response from the moderator saying that advertising and self promotion was not allowed on the forum. I sent a return email and apologised to the moderator. I continued to try and post responses on the forum making sure that I was not advertising or promoting my site, but just giving advice which was relevant to the posts. However each time I posted a response the moderator would post a note saying " remember, no advertising". This is really frustrating as I feel the moderator now has it in for me.
I was telling some ofmy work colleagues aboutthe issues I was having when trying to promote my site. One in particular said he understood the moderators actions as he runs an Internet dating site and he was fed up with posters to hisforum trying to promote their business.
He said the Internet dating site was exactly that, for dating and dating related issues. He allowed posters to promote their business on his Internet dating site only if the business was relevant, for example restaurant owners, florists and gift shop owners. He has a poster who is always offering special deals to daters if they want to meet for the first time at his restaurant. He allowed this as he felt is was a good spin foran Internet Dating site. The daters didn't have to worry about where to meet and the restaurant owner was also a registered member of the site.
I understood my colleagues point of view, but I still feel the moderator of the forum I had posted to was still being vindictive towards me.
